RESISTIVE
SPARK PLUGS
|
|
The ever increasing use of modern radio - diffusive and TV
receivers and electronic parts in automobiles
(this particularly applies to automobiles having electronically
controlled fuel injection) have brought requirements for supression
of electromagnetic radiation of all potential sources causing
interferences are created in the secondary circuit of the
ignition system, i.e. its sparking spots ( spark plugs, ignition
distributor contact and platinum points ) Technical regulations
of developed countries impose very high radio interference
protection level. Suppresion of this interference source (on
spark plugs) has been mainly done by cables and fittings with
resistance installed. The basic disadvantage of such suppression
method is that suppression elements are far from the interference
source. This facilitates far more efficient suppression of
interferences (elimination of noise, sputtering, ets.). Besides,
the fitted resistor lowers the electrode errosion and therefore
extendes the spark plug life. Resistive spark plugs ENKER
have suffix "R" following the numerical type designation.

PLUGS WITH COPPER-CORED ELECTRODES-THERMOELASTIC |
Spark plugs of high technological
level, having electrodes with copper - core
and nickel-chrom alloy envelope. This provides better heat conductivity,
i.e. faster achievement of the selfcleaning temperature and
elimination of carbon (soot) deposits. Also, at higher temperatures,
heat dissipation is much less frequent. Thermoelastic ENKER
Spark Plug with copper - cored central electrode works at lower
temperatures than a standard one. This means it is colder, what
is in direct relation with lower errosion. Thermoelastic spark
plugs ENKER make the heat range wider, provide betteer
cold start, acceleration without load, optimum fuel consumption
(more fuel is burned due to stronger spark), more efficient
under exremely heavy conditions and significantly longer life
time. Thermoelastic ENKER spark olugs have suffix
"C" following the numerical type designation. |

SPARK
PLUGS WITH MORE ELECTRODES |

|
Development of automobile industry
has recently
improved to a high extent so that requirements
for servicing of automobile assemblies and parts have been brought
down to minimum. In order to increase spark plug life we have introduced
spark plugs with several electrodes. Surfaces of side and central
electrodes are considerably increased and therefore the errosion degree
is decreased. This makes spark plug gap more stable in an extended
period and therefore the voltage required for the mixture ignition
is almost constant. This also provides more reliable engine start
(particularly in cold weather), lower fuel consumption and considerably
longer spark plug life time.
ENKER spark plugs with 2 electrodes have suffix "U"
following the numerical type desidnation.
ENKER spark plugs with 3 electrodes have suffix "D"
following the numerical type desidnation.
ENKER spark plugs with 4 electrodes have suffix "Q"
following the numerical type desidnation. |

SPARK
PLUGS WITH PLATINUM TIPPED ELECTRODES |
| |
Central electrode of these spark plugs
is made of a highly wear resistant platinum alloy by a special process.
Besides, this platinum alloy is very good heat and electricity conductor.
Central electrode wear rate, caused by corrosion due to combustion
and errosion due to sparking, has been considerably reduced. In this
way, ignition conditions between spark plug replacement intervals
remain approximaterly the same i.e. optimum electrode gap and ignition
voltage required remain almost constant. Characteristics of the power
secondary circuit are improved and the existing voltage reserve is
maintained. That is why the electrodes may be relatively thin end
consequently a spark can easily pass through the mixture. By extending
the insulator nose and fitting the platinum tipped electrode, the
insulator nose can easily be heated up, i.e. selfcleaning temperature
is easily achieved (to eliminate combustion deposits) at a lower r.p.m.
and heat dissipation is increased under high engine loads. Platinum
spark plugs provide an easier engine start even with lower accumulator
power, which offers optimum fuel consumption and more efficient engine
run under all operating conditions. |
