INDUSTRIAL IGNITERS (characteristics)

The growing use of various fuels for both industrial and domestic applications has led to the development of equpment for burners' operation. Industrial igniters have found the larges application in feul ignition. Various designs of igniters enable them, besides this function to ignite fuels to be used as ionizers (flame controller) or liquid level regulators.

    OPERATION MODE:
The simplest mode of electric fuel ignition is hightension system, which supplies power (some 10 KV) from transformator to a pair of insulated electrodes. They are placed so that they alow, by their gap, sparking adjacent to the burner nozzle. Depending on burner characteristics , the gap between electordes goes up to 5 mm.
In some installations , a single insulated electrode ( igniter) may be mounted while one part of burner casing or own metal casing of igniter may be used as the other electrode.

    CENTRAL ELECTRODE:
Central electrodes of igniters are made of Ni-Cr alloy
( various diameters) which is resistive to high temperature, corrosion and electro-erosion. For very high temperatures, central electrodes are made of chathal ( up to 1623 K)

    INSULATOR:
Igniter insulator is made of ceramics with 95% content of AI2O3. Owing to such a high purity and manufactoring tehnology, this ceramics has excellent mechanic, electric, chemical, thermal and other characteristics. For aesthetic reasons and easier maintenance, glazing of insulators is done ( according to need )

    QUALITY CONTROL:
Besides Laboratory and control in manufacturing stages af production process, the following tests are regularly done:
- insulator mechanical strength
- insulator resistance to thermal stress
- insulator electric break-down with high-tension and high frequency current.
- central electrode quality
- igniter permeability test
- igniter sparking test, etc.
Since 02.1999 ENKER has established and applies a quality system for all of our products acccording to
